Shawn’s last service at Boston will be on October 30th. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated following the usual pre-pandemic format.
October 28 Potluck Farewell
Boston and Omagh Churches are having a joint pot-luck on Friday, October 28 at 6:30 at Boston. We will be celebrating Shawn’s retirement and wishing Shawn and Susan all the best in their new home.
October 23 Service
Shawn’s last worship service in Omagh will be on Sunday, October 23rd. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated that Sunday following the pre-pandemic format.
Anniversary Sunday
Omagh will be celebrating its 184th Anniversary on Sunday, September 18th at 11:15 a.m. There will not be a service in Boston that morning so that the charge may worship together. Shawn will be preaching the sermon. A light lunch will follow the service.
Retirement
As Shawn informed the congregations during the worship service on Sunday August the 7th, after more than 40 years in full-time ministry, 33 of which has been spent with the congregations of Boston and Omagh, he will be retiring. This will take effect at the end of October.
Masks – Optional
The Session has decided that in light of the changed circumstances, the wearing of masks in the church is now optional.
Boston’s Anniversary Service
Boston will be celebrating its long-awaited “200th” Anniversary on Sunday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Mark Lewis, and the Rev. Rod Lewis will be a special guest. A light lunch will follow the service. Following the lunch, at 1:30 Josh Sinclair will perform a short piano concert. There will not be a service in Omagh that morning so that both congregations may worship together.
Masks and Vaccination Requirement Update
The Session has decided that in the interest of everyone’s safety, the wearing of masks will remain in place until the end of this month. This decision will be re-visited then. The proof of vaccination requirement has been dropped.
The Annual Meeting will be held following the April 10th worship service. There will be a brief fellowship time with refreshments before the meeting.
Good Friday
There is a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board at the back of the church for those willing to bring food for the fellowship time on Good Friday.
The Good Friday Service will be held at Omagh on April 15th at 10:30 a.m. and will be preceded by a continental breakfast and a fellowship time downstairs beginning at 9:30. Those attending should note that proof of vaccination and the wearing of masks is still required in Omagh during the month of April.
